Looking for Milspec

Jul 27, 2014,20:42 PM

Hi,

I'm a life long SCUBA diver and divemaster (and Rolex 5513 Sub guy) that has fallen in love with the FF Milspec.  I've been looking for a while to find one but haven't seen a really nice example   Any tips on where I might find one of these rare birds?  Don't mind being patient and waiting, just want to make sure I'm looking in the right spots.
Thanks

Vintage FFs are a minefield. Milspecs are no exception. Put a ' Want to Buy ' on the different collectors Markets. Youn will have good sellers, and Sharks, sadly. Feel free to come back to us, when you are offered one. Expect to pay a high price, too. Bes...

Thanks, will give it a try. And yes, certainly being careful and willing to pay for a great watch. The records on the different models/ref numbers seem to be hard to come by/weren’t ever kept well by Blancpain so doing my research. This seems to be most k...

And ebay is a good spot to find nice watches but there is a lot of competition. I suggest you find someone someone that can mentor you on your first purchase. There are a lot of pitfalls you want to avoid. Brian

The Milspec on the back cover didn't seem to fit the LIP dial (from what very little I could tell about the LIP with moisture indicator dial version) but thanks for the very fast response

Milspec 1

Normally this dial is mounted on a polished case. In my opinion the movement, dial, hands and crown come from a FF Lip, all fitted into a middle Milspec. It is a pure joy to be able to dive with an old FF but it is also risky. ...

Nice dive pics

Yes, risky/gutsy bringing the vintage dive watches down to 30ish meters deep. I keep my vintage Submariner on a leather strap so I don't get tempted. But I'm sure the clownfish appreciated the classy dive watch. And thanks the additional thoughts.
