Bathyscaphe Chronograph & 12 day´s Tourbillon preselected by the Grand Prix de Genève 2014
Sep 01, 2014,10:47 AM
Of course both in different categories - Sports & Tourbillon.
I had the pleasure to see them both in the metal and to take some pictures for you.
Blancpain Villeret 12 day´s Tourbillon
The light was far from being good, but I tried to catch some of the details.
Let me add some official pictures as well, just for the pleasure of looking.
Have you seen the little details on the dial, between 4 & 5 and 7 & 8?
Some details:
Developed in the watchmaking workshops of the Manufacture, as indeed are
all Blancpain movements, the new Calibre 242 takes things to a new
level by further improving on the record- breaking autonomy of Calibre
25 unveiled in 1998: the world’s first self-winding tourbillon with an
8-day power reserve. The new self-winding tourbillon movement has an
exceptional 12-day power reserve guaranteed by a single barrel.
Comprising 243 parts united within just a space just 6.10 mm thick and
30.60 mm in diameter, it is is equipped with a silicon balance- spring
and pallet-fork horns in order to alleviate the effects of magnetic
fields.
Second one selected is the Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe Flyback Chronograph in ceramic.
Especially on the BP Nato strap it looks and feels very good.
Some details:
This new Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe model houses a new 13-lignes
Manufacture Blancpain movement beating at a rate of 36,000
vibrations/hour. It is equipped with a column-wheel chronograph
mechanism and a vertical clutch. It also offers a flyback function
enabling the wearer to reset and instantly restart the chronograph
simply by pressing the pusher at 4 o’clock. This device proves extremely
useful in taking fast measurements of successive times. Moreover, the
water-resistant chronograph pushers also enable user underwater to
depths of 300 metres without any risk of damaging the watch. The
presence of a sapphire case-back on this diver’s watch is made possible
by the use of a balance-spring made in silicon – a material endowed with
anti-magnetic properties that enable the watch to dispense with the
inner Faraday cage. This transparent back reveals the 18-carat gold
oscillating weight clad in NAC (a platinum alloy) and featuring a
sculpted Blancpain logo.
Good luck to Blancpain!
Oliver
