Not only a fan, but finally . . .

. . . a player.
Yours truly has been playing pool for the better part of sixty years, and non-stop the last baker's dozen. What you may not have known is that I started on a snooker table. Dad took a position in Iran in the mid-'60s where the local golf club had a snooker room with two tables. One look and I was hooked. When the tables weren't in use I would try to play. Eventually I got the hang of making shots, and memorably beat my sixth-grade pal Jerry Dudderar's Dad at a game! (Mr Dudderar was shocked, to say the least.) When we returned to California Dad got us an 8-foot pool table, and as they say, the rest is history.
Until last fall, that is. The US Snooker championship was being held in San Gabriel, about an hour and a half drive from my place. So I went to watch the final, and got hooked again. Of course, I had to add a snooker cue to my collection of pool cues.
Purpleheart shaft . . .
. . . with Kamuii supersoft tip and 11 mm titanium ferrule, white juma joint.
Pernambuco shaft . . .
. . . similarly fitted but with a black juma joint.
Peruvian huahuoro forearm and butt, . . .
. . . Central American bloodwood handle . . .
. . . with black and white juma rings and cap, steel pin.
What distinguishes a pool cue from a snooker cue? The extension.
Adds six inches to the 58" cue.
Attached . . .
. . . and ready for shots across the length of a 12' snooker table.
