New civilian Milspec!

Apr 01, 2010,16:49 PM

I wanted to post some photo of my new civilian Milspec that I picked up. I saw a listing from the ***OUTSIDE SITE MENTION EDITED PER FORUM RUES***  in Nov 2007 of a guy that had a Milspec watch that he wanted to get more information on his watch. So for two years I have been trying to buy this watch. Below is the original listing from xxxxxxxxxxx

-Blancpain Fifty Fathom Milspec 1
I Own A Blancpain Fifty Fathom milspec 1 Which Was Give To Me As A Present Approx 5o Years Ago It Is In Excellent Condition Runs Very Well It Has The Original Band With The Same Serial Number On It Which Is The Same Serial Number On The Watch . Would Like To Know It's Value. -

So I have been talking to the owner for over two years trying to buy his beautiful watch. I have been trying to buy his watch for so long the term civilian Milspec was not introduced when I started dialog with him.

The condition of the watch is superb. The original crystal has the perfect amount or glazing and bezel insert is perfect. The case is a wonderful matt finish and has just a few scratches. The watch has never been open and the red paint on the case back is evidence.

The tropic strap is original and is marked Apollo Tropic 20-21mm and I was lucky enough to find an exact replacement and will keep the original strap in my watch draw. I will take a better photo of the watch when the new tropic strap arrives. Brian

Hi Guys. I picked up the watch from the original owner. It as a gift that was purchased in New York at Abercrombie & Fitch. He was a care salesman and has retired to Florida. He told me he got the watch in the late '50 or early '60. I have always thought ...

from the same place.... To be confirmed. As for being TR 900 tests, I heard this theory, and another one: They may be some " left over " FFs after the TR 900 delivery ot the USN. I will come soon here with a topic... Stay tuned! Best, Nicolas

Congratulations...::))
