Basel repeaters

Hi Marcus
Here is my experience with Basel sonnerie watches. First they all are prototypes and the kind of tuning that goes on for regular production has not taken place. Second, Basel is LOUD. There is a huge amount of ambient noise in Basel, even in a private room. I have heard repeaters from many brands there....Patek, Breguet, Blancpain, UN all come to mind. It was hard to hear all of them. We simply don't realize as we go through the day at Basel how loud it is in the hall. I have a really vivid memory of hearing a Patek at Basel and then the same watch again in the Patek boutique in Geneva and being astounded at the difference.

The Pocket watch is THE obvious, evident solution for this complication.

... I ever heard was a rather small ad sober AP sonnerie en passant, owned by our Thomas. When it went off during a conference with half a dozen people, everybody heard it and went silent immediatly, full impressed. Regards, Marcus

Yes, ambient noise is an issue...

but I learned that my iPhone does an amazing job at capturing minute repeater sound even under those adverse conditions. Its not sound studio quality of course but good enough for an initial impression. Magnus
