This weekend I made a trip to the safe deposit box looking for a slim dress watch to wear at a formal event. I knew that my Piaget Altiplano would be the perfect match for the Tux. However as I rummaged through the various watch rolls, a forgotten safe qu...
I typically wear 40mm+ so perhaps this Blancpain only gets limited wrist time because of the size. Then again I was also 40 lbs lighter 10 years ago...it looks better on a skinnier wrist :-) Best, Mike
It reminds me to former days of Blancpain and therefore I appreciated your post/review a lot. Thanks, Mike! Let me explain beauty and odditiy . The beauty is obviously, isn´t it?! A very well executed case, dial and movement. Very classical and sporty at ...
Neither dress nor sport, but I like the dial execution better than the more classical versions mostly because of the radial flip at "9". This watch always reminds me of the saying "They don't make them like they used to any more" :-) Certainly not at a fu...
iterations of the Peseux 7001 (neé Blancpain Cal. 64) in Blancpain's history: It all startet with nothing less than the beginnings of 'modern' Blancpain (someone called this the 'most obscure singular piece' - ts ts ts... ;-): The movement and its decorat...
The 2000 series of Blancpain always was an oddity (to use Oliver's words), an interlocutor between the (then) Villeret and the Léman collection. Case and dial had no orthologous in the brands collection. In fact, its automatic sister Ref. 1160 was my firs...
on you as my ref. 7002 had on me. In fact looking back I find these "vintage" Blancpain circa Biver are so interesting. Thanks for sharing your first Blancpain with me, Mike
Quite rushed for time tonight, but will do a quick photo if I can ... off to the watch cabinet There it is on shelf 2 - do you see it? I messed up all my watches just for this photo to make it more of a challenge (or are they always messy like this) Zoomi...
Claw? :-) That's all I can think of whenever I see that photo with all the watches laying around in that showcase. I'd be playing all day...probably trying to grab that SBGW003 Cheers, Mike ...
Got mine in Tokyo as well back in 2002/3. Not much info was available at that time but I did gather it was based on the non in-house pesaux movement and hesitated a bit. But in the end, I am glad I pulled the trigger. The quality workmanship is there for ...
Wempe editions made in gold. IIRC the recognized Wempe editions were cased in stainless steel with a 7002 that had less elaborate finishing. Your movement appears to have similar finishing treatments like mine. Thanks for sharing a watch that is not suppo...
I have a Wempe in SS and a 7002 with Breguet numerals in SS, and the movement in both is 100% identical to each other and to the Walt pictures on Ninanet. I have seen the Wempe edition believe it or not with both the less finished movement AND the high gr...
my guess is that this is quite possible from what I recall. But weren't the Wempe watches fitted with a solid case back, or am I mixing them up with another LE? Best, Magnus

This is a great looking Blancpain Mike. The movement and dial are beautiful. I think the bracelet is a bit formal looking for my taste but for a dressy look, it works very well. I love the movement macro shot! Thanks for sharing Mike. cheers robin
