agree that this watch should be on any deserted island watch shortlist. RE: reliability compared to a 3 hand or 3 hand + date rolex, i think the f piguet movement is just as reliable as the workhorse movements in the submariner line of rolex, or even for that matter the ETA 2824.
you just dont hear about BP 50 fathom watches going bad like say the AP Diver (another oft cited deserted island watch contender) with its finer finished but more delicate AP 3120 movement, of which ive heard of many cases of needing a spa trip within the warranty period (including my own AP diver, with a date wheel issue).
