Great advice!

My wife started to get into it by way of inheriting a tiffany, and falling for a vintage longines at liberty london. It took some time but eventually she narrowed down her daily, to a blancpain time only. Kind of mirrors my own progression.

Getting your wife into watches

 By: m2 : February 8th, 2024-00:41
I’m trying to make her a convert. Thinking of grabbing a steel sports watch that can be worn while running + relatively carefree as a starting point. How did you all do it?

How do you even....

I mean....

Being already 39 years old, a lot of rational women wouldn't even seriously date me when they come to learn I plan on spending $100+K on wristwatches.... And I'm not even a collector! 😇

😂😂😂

My wife initially thought that the Chopard LUC Chrono One I got after my daughter was born was it. How mistaken can one get 🤦🏻‍♂️😂

🙃😅

She now shares most of the watches…

 By: KMII : February 8th, 2024-03:20
And still occasionally asks herself how I could have turned so bonkers 😂😂😂

ROFL!!!!

Man it's a tough game for sure, where you will have to spend the amount of 'more'... but if you play it right, you'll get back 'even more' Cheers, Alex

😉

Cheers mate, Filip

Why bother?

Are you trying to open a can of worms?

Be VERY CAREFUL my friend!

Easy, show her watches and listen to her opinions and tastes.

Something ceramic might be a better, safer start 😉 Joking aside, got mine into watches a long time ago - was a co-opt thing. She has a few of her own, the majority we share. Getting her to appreciate them has made it a semi-joint hobby, which I for sure f...

Not only does my wife enjoy watches...

She actually buys her own! I don't know how I did it but that's the path to enlightenment🧘🏻

I can take some time

but after 20 years of relationship, I am getting there. Last one was a small Bulgari Diagono full steel black dial. She gets nice comments about it, it is becoming a classic and is not so easy to come by. I bought hers in Japan second hand for a song

LOL.Good one.

Top duo.

 By: amanico : February 8th, 2024-11:14

Just get her a very nice watch she likes and see whats she is doing with it over time .

 By: Watchonthewrists : February 8th, 2024-08:45
Then you can figure out what kind of watch she will be daily wearing in the near future. Also think quartz 🫣

I have intentionally not encouraged my wife to get into watches

 By: sham1 : February 8th, 2024-09:20
by encouraging her less expensive passion for handbags! ...

Tip - first buy her a nice quartz watch - you will both have more satisfaction if the first one is always running

I have gotten almost 20 watches for my wife over the years. She just can't be bothered to 1. set the watch 2. remember to wind it after setting it 3. screw down the crown 4. keep it out of the dishwater or the garden hose Her Eddie Bauer watch is one of h...

Well... we need a GTG and bring our wives. Am sure the sordid stories will be quite... enlightening. 😎🤣😝

As for my wife / Muse, it's all my fault. →_→ She dealy misses our Patek 5110 dealer wall clock we had for many years. i truly deserve my incredible wife.* . . . . *Perhaps as a form of punishment for my antics as a teenager. []~( ̄▽ ̄)~*

Not having a wife .

I think having her acceptance is easier than having her borrow your watches.

My wife doesn’t wear any jewelry so a watch isn’t welcome

 By: xto : February 9th, 2024-01:19
But she’s wonderfully supportive - during a recent trip to Paris she spent a delightful afternoon with me at the Breguet boutique - 60 mins+ in the museum she loved and she sipped and noshed while I looked at a few watches for me The one thing she liked? ...

Supportive is perhaps...

The best solution.

My wife watches now cost more than mine…

 By: iceheller 1945 ✌️ : February 9th, 2024-02:58
I bought her Tag quartz, then Mont Blanc quartz more than a decades ago. And when she starts to go into brand when she mingle with her colleagues a few years back, along came Bvlgari, Rolex and Chanel watches… Hope the craze stop with Chanel.

Fortunately my wife already liked watches (and cars) when we got together. I just introduced her to a higher price point, quality level and lesser known fine brands. A few times we've been

in a store, I'm looking at a watch and the sales person assumes she might like to look at a ladies quarts powered Rolex, PP, Hublot etc and she'll say "isn't that quarts? No thanks but can I see that automatic JLC with the moonphase and power reserve"! Ma...

My wife won’t wear a watch. But one day at a local auction they had an older Rolex Oyster Precision and said she really liked it, she even tried it on. She never does that.

 By: Emil Wojcik : February 9th, 2024-19:50
So of course I bought it for her. That was in 2018. The only times she ever wears it is when we’re going out with friends but only because I wind it, set it, and put it on her wrist, otherwise she’d never wear it. In fact I’ve worn it far more than she ha...
